I get asked all the time on Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook and of course Instagram about my night time routine, what products I use and what products I recommend, so here you little fairies go!
Before I get into what products I use, I want to let everyone reading this know I have combination/oily skin so the products I mention may not work well for everyones skin, especially if you have dry/sensitive skin. Make sure you read a little bit about these products if you are unsure before you purchase them.
The very first thing I'll do before I start to cleanse my face is remove my make up with a make up wipe, once I have done that I will use the Cetaphil cleanser and remove any make up that the make up wipe didn't take off.
Currently I use the Clinique 3-Step System Type 3- combination oily (Starts at step 1- dry to very dry and ends at step 4 - oily)
It is quite pricey for skincare but I have been using it since September and it has done wonders and I don't mind spending a little bit more for something that I know works well with my skin.
The pack comes with 3 products inside; a cleanser, a toner and a moisturiser
First you start with the cleanser - we all have them nights when we come home really tired and just want to hop into bed without washing your face so you end up taking your make up off with a make up wipe. Personally me doing that a couple of times in a row my skin starts to look like a pizza I didn't order, then I get angry with myself for not looking after my skin. When I do use my cleanser I honestly notice a difference the next morning, if I have any pimples they are instantly smaller, my skin doesn't feel as greasy and my face feels like a baby's bum.
If you don't use a toner in your night time routine I suggest you add it in right now! Toners are most helpful and necessary for people with oily or acne-prone skin, or for people who want extra cleansing after wearing makeup. Other benefits of adding a toner to your night time routine is that it shrinks pores, gives your skin pH balance, refreshes skin, and clears some redness/ acne-scaring. I put this on my skin with a cotton pad, then I leave it until it has dried (a couple of seconds) then move on to the next step.
If you read in my previous night time routine post you would know that I hate moisturisers because of the way they feel on my skin but this one is a gel and it just goes right into your skin and doesn't leave it feeling oily, it's amazing!! I use this after I have toned my skin, it puts all the natural oils back into my skin and like I said it doesn't leave my skin feeling oily which is a huge plus.
About 2-3 times a week I will exfoliate my skin with St Ives Apricot Scrub I have been using this for about a year it does it's job with removing any dead skin and leaves my skin nice and soft.
That's all I currently use but let me tell you I have used a lot of products some have been amazing and some have been horrific, here are the ones I suggest giving a try!
- Dermalogica clear start kit
- Alpha H cleanser
- St Ives Green Tea cleanser and scrub
- Cetaphill cleanser
- Biore Warming Anti-Blackhead Cleanser
- T.N Dickson's Witch Hazel toner
- Aloe Vera Plant (you rub the goo on your face - works wonders trust me!)
- Formula 10.0.6 Seriously Shine Free, Mattifying Oil-Free Moisturiser
